The Pod at Podar
Vision:
“THE POD” at Podar aims to build a vibrant community of start-ups with innovative and new business ideas. The Pod will provide incubatees with the essential infrastructure, skills training and ecosystem support for access to market, capital and other resources.
Partners:
In a true spirit of collaboration, “The Pod” at Podar will be powered by the Confederation of Indian Industry’s Young Indians (Yi) Mumbai Chapter, CultInno and ThinkPod Srinagar. With CII and Yi, we have industry access from Day 1, CultInno brings together a platform to support innovators nationwide with industry specific challenges and mentorship and ThinkPod comes on board with experience of successfully running an incubator in one of the most challenging areas, J&K.
Through these valuable partnerships and the legacy of Podar – one of the best Commerce colleges in the country, ‘The Pod’ hopes to build a very dynamic incubator for students, innovators and young entrepreneurs in Mumbai, India’s commercial capital.
What do you get when you start-up at “The Pod”?
INCUBATION
Start-ups at The Pod get immediate access to a wealth of resources of the Podar College and its campus resources and best-in-class faculty mentors. A curated set of training programmes for essential skills in Finance, Marketing, Governance, Operations, and Business development will be scheduled every quarter and can be accessed by incubatees.
CO-WORKING SPACES
The Pod has created a vibrant workspace at the Podar college campus. As a start-up at the Pod, you can book and use the physical infrastructure of work desks, computers, meeting rooms which have been developed to provide a world class co-working space for your team. With the basic infrastructural needs of your business readily accessible, you can use your energy in taking your ideas to enterprise.
INVESTOR PITCHES
The Pod will bring together a network of Angel investors and Venture capitalists to invest in the businesses incubated on the Podar campus. This will include alumni of the Podar College, CII and Yi members, and other networks in the Mumbai Metropolitan region.
TINKERING LABS
The Pod realises the need for innovators to access a lab for creating their prototypes, demo models, formulations, etc. This is an essential gap that we believe our partnership with CultInno network of Innovation labs will address. The labs at the Ruia college will be the first tinkering lab that can be booked by the incubatees at The Pod. More labs will be added to the network of tinkering labs periodically. These labs have all the latest equipment that that be accessed at minimal costs.
BOOT-CAMPS & DEMO DAYS
The Pod will bring together the best minds from Mumbai and across India for periodic entrepreneurship boot-camps which will involve a series of activities to test and pitch concepts, build business plans, form networks for collaboration, and live demo prototypes.
WORKSHOPS AND WEBINARS
The Pod will provide access to all the workshops and webinars organised on campus and online by the Podar College and its various campus clubs and academies. In addition, select programs of relevance organised by CII and Yi will be available to The Pod incubatees at special member rates. This massive range of knowledge based activities will help start-ups gain all the essential skills to build their ventures.
MEMBERSHIP OF CII Yi MUMBAI YUVA NETWORK
All incubatees at The Pod will get immediate access to the membership privileges of Confederation of Indian Industry’s fast growing YUVA network, that currently spans 125+ educational institutions in 55 cities across India. Yi also has access to organisations that promote youth entrepreneurship in 52 countries through its G20 and Commonwealth alliances.
How do you access ‘The Pod’?
The Pod is open to students, innovators and young entrepreneurs from Mumbai and across India. Though students and alumni of the Podar College will have preferred access to ‘The Pod’, access is open to all who wish to make The Pod a springboard for their new businesses.
