Ebullient Rhythmic Gymnast Akshata Shetye, a 20-year-old collegian from Poddar College, is India's queen in the field of Rhythmic Gymnastics.She was crowned by the Best Sportsman of the State Award ie, Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Award by Maharashtra Govt.With her countless efforts &hardworking for more than a decade she reached on a top of achievements. Along with her sportive body & attitude her pation & involvement in the game made her ideal.
Recently with her celebrity status she lead the State team in National Games, Ranchi & bring glory to Maharashtra by 4 gold & 1 bronze medal. Within a months' time she was honored twice by the honorary chief minister of the State in person; once for getting Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Award & second time with cash reward of Rs.21.5 lakhs for the success at National Games, Ranchi.
With her successful career as a player Akshata is now ready to a challenge of coaching & officiating in the field of Rhythmic Gymnastics.

Swar Vira of SYJC and Jay Pradhan of FYJC represented Podar College in Inter-Collegiate Team Chess Tournament held by Junior College Sports Association of Mumbai. Around 50 Colleges of Mumbai participated in the event. With immense hard work and college support Podar college defended its 'Title' and became the 'CHAMPION' for the Third year in a row.

Umang 2011.
R.A.Podar college of commerce and economics, were awarded the 1st runners up' trophy of Umang! UMANG the inter-college festival hosted by Narsee Moonjee College (N.M) which was organized from 14th August to 17th August wherein there were events ranging from performing arts ,literary arts, management, informal to crossovers.
Chaitanya Chande as the CL; Kruti Shah, Kajal Rathod and Jayesh Jain as the ACLs, spearheaded the event on behalf of the college.
120 students were selected for participation through various stages of auditions.The four days of the festival kept the excitement, the competitive streak and the adrenaline rush going among the participants and, made it possible to win all the major events. Our participants gave their best performance which gave them an edge over other colleges! It felt good to project the excellence of our college in front of 110 other participating colleges. Kudos to all the participants and winners.
