The Speakers’ Academy began the year 2009-10 with its orientation for Degree College students, which included mock debates, elocution and public speaking in general. The orientation featured Ms. Priyanka Krishnan as its guest speaker. The forum also conducted debates, elocutions and took many efforts to train students for inter-collegiate events. These efforts seemed to reach fruition when students of R.A. Podar College won events such as the S.I.E.S.’ debating competition, the Mumbai rounds of L.N. Birla Memorial Debate competition and D.Y. Patil Debate competition. The College also participated in competitions like Fr. Concecaio Rodrigues Debate Competition, A.D. Shroff Memorial Elocution Competition and Shri Sathya Sai Seva Elocution Competition.

The Speakers Academy of R.A. Podar College moves with the motive of training the unskilled speakers and providing opportunities for the talented students of our college. Their motto has been ‘Don’t just speak among yourselves, speak with us!!!’
The Speaker’s Academy began the year with a workshop on “The importance of Public Speaking”. It was an interactive session including a mock debate and an elocution supervised by Ex- Podarites.
The Main highlight of the forum was Bull Fights where a series of preliminary rounds, quarterfinals, Semi-finals and finals were held. The winners of the finals were Ms. Aishwarya Kirtivasan and Ms. Prateeksha Daftary while Ms. Tanvi Chaudhary and Ms.
Chris Anto were the runners up. The award for the best speaker was shared by Ms. Aishwarya and Ms. Chris Anto. This year was the first when the judges choose the best speakers over the winners to represent the college in Rostrum Spectrum.
Apart from the college competitions the Speaker’s Academy prepares speakers who represent the college at various Inter- College competitions. Ms. Tanvi Chaudhary won the first prize in Forum Of Free Enterprise A.D. Shroff Intra- Collegiate Elocution Competition and went on to represent the college. After winning the Zonal round she bagged a third Prize in the Finals. Ms. Priyanka Mahadevan won the first prize in K.R Cama inter-collegiate Essay Competition and second prize in the elocution competition. Ms. Pooja Balasubramanian won the first Prize in the Matoshri Ramabhai Ambedkar Inter Collegiate elocution competition.
‘Rostrum Spectrum’, an Inter- collegiate Debate and group Discussion fest was held in association with the Times Foundation from the 1st to the 5th December 2008. All in all 25 colleges participated and this year once again the Rostrum- trophy was won by Ramnarain Ruia College and runners up were IIT (Mumbai). Mr. Pulasta Das from Ramnarain Ruia College bagged the best speaker trophy.

The Speaker’s Academy is an integral part of the college where debates, elocutions and extempore are used as a medium to create confident speakers.
The academic year was started with a first of its kind innovative and interactive workshop on public speaking, attended by over a hundred students that was conducted with the help of the speakers team. Many competitions were held round the year. Mr. Hrudyesh Pankhania (S.Y.B.Com) and Ms. Mansi Nagda stood first at the college Bull Fight Finals. Ms Mansi Nagda was also awarded as the best speaker.
Apart from the college competitions, the Speakers’ Academy prepares speakers who represent the college at various inter-collegiate competitions. Ms. Divya lyer (F.Y.B.Com) had reached the finals after winning the zonal round from among 63 College at the A.D. Shroff Elocution Competition.
The inter college literary festival of the college conducted in association with the Speakers Academy, Group Discussion cell called the literary lights- Rostrum Spectrum saw its sixteen year. The finalists were Ramnarain Ruia College and Mithibai College with Ruia College bagging the winner’s title. Apart from creating excellence in public speaking the speakers’ academy also promotes social causes. The Wockhardt Harvard Medical International HIV Aids and research foundation in association with Speakers Academy and Group Discussion cell conducted a session during the Aids awareness week.
