KEY HIGHLIGHTS
  • A University of Mumbai recognized centre for guiding Ph.D. Degree in Commerce (Banking & Finance).

    Principal (Dr.) Shobana Vasudevan is a recognised research guide. She is currently guiding students for Ph.D. degree in commerce. Currently, Ms. Sanchita Roy and Ms. Vinda Paralkar and Ms. Chonour have registered themselves for Ph.D. under her guidance.
    uing the research activity was revived in the year 2009. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Shobana Vasudevan (recognized research guide) is currently guiding the students for pursuing Ph.D. at the centre. A well equipped research wing is in place so that the required research ambience is created.

  • A fully functional Research and Consultancy Cell (earlier nomenclatures – Research Committee/Research & Development Cell) works as a catalyst in encouraging the research activity.

  • The teachers attend the seminar/workshop/conference and they submit the report of the same to the Principal, along with the copy of the participation certificate.

  • The college encourages students to participate in different state-level as well as national-level workshops, seminars, conferences where they can widen their horizon of knowledge. Opportunities for encouraging students’ participation in the research activity are not spared. Students have been presenting papers (after the due primary research work), at the International Economic Convention conducted by the Hyderabad Sindh Association.

  • The BMS course has an inbuilt mechanism for preparing and submitting projects. These projects require a good deal of research work from the students. A teacher is appointed to guide every student for completing the project work.

  • The College has been encouraging research activities by providing the required resource to the aspiring researchers with the state of art research wing. The researcher is insulated from the distraction of the outside world. With as many as 58 Journals, the researchers do not face any problems in accessing published information. By subscribing to online journals, the researcher enjoys wide access to data and information. Research related seminars are organized in order to motivate the researchers in the right direction.

  • Faculty members who successfully complete their research work are felicitated at the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony which also contributes towards motivating the researcher. By providing subsidies in using the college facilities for printing and other research activity, the management helps to preserve the research aptitude of the staff members and students.

The college in collaboration with Indian Institute of Development Studies (IIDS), Planning Commission and Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) has done various research activities. The college is in the process of establishing a collaborative link with NISM (National Institute of Securities Markets).

Mission

  • To stimulate and encourage research aptitude amongst Faculty and motivate them to pursue M.Phil. and Ph.D. Research Degrees.
  • To encourage Faculty and Students to participate at State, National and International Research Competitions.
  • To motivate and assist Faculty in pursuing Minor and Major Research Projects funded by various agencies.
  • To collaborate with industry in order to transform academic research into project consultancy that is relevant to society.
  • To collaborate with State, National and International academicians in doing meaningful research that is socially useful.
  • To develop a research temperament and a conducive research climate throughout the institution.

  • They were guided by Prof. Amitha Seghal, Chairperson, Research Cell of our college and Prof. CA Pradeep Dattatray Kamthekar, who are eminent role models in the field of research. Due to their guidance and sincere efforts, the student team won a Gold Medal at Zonal level Mumbai District in Avishkar RESEARCH PAPER PRESENTATION COMPETITION at the University Under-Graduate level and Silver Medal at Mumbai University. The team then headed to Nasik for the Inter-University Convention.
  • Prof. Amitha Sehgal represented the S.N.D.T. University, where she has submitted her research at the Inter-University level in the Post-post Graduate (PPG) category. She was short-listed at the “Flex-Round” and reached the PPT Round.
  • Prof. CA Pradeep Dattatray Kamthekar represented Mumbai University, from where he is pursuing his Ph.D. He won a GOLD MEDAL at the Inter-University level in the PPG category.
