The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of R.A. Podar College of Commerce & Economics in collaboration with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) organises a National Seminar on “Changing role of teachers in changing times” on Saturday, 3rd September 2016.

Introduction:
Higher education in India is undergoing considerable change. With over 600 million people in India under 25 years old, the system is under tremendous pressure to expand. India’s young population has a huge appetite for education and, as the growth in the size of the middle classes escalates, millions are increasingly able to pay for it. By 2020, India will have the largest tertiary-age population in the world and will have the second largest graduate talent pipeline globally, following China and ahead of the USA.

Teachers in higher education commonly aim to develop their students' ways of thinking, acting and approaching a field of study and practice. The role of teachers is crucial to build a climate that encourages student performance, all round development of students, be motivators to help students achieve goals and develop employable skills. The focus has to be on continuous improvement and innovation in educational processes to build a culture of quality in the institution.

The classrooms in the higher educational institutions consist of a variety of students. This poses a challenge for the teachers to cater to the different cognitive abilities. The emerging open learning systems, distance education significantly has also contributed to the 'massification' of higher education. At the same time there is a higher degree of inequality in the quality of higher education between the institutions in the rural and the urban areas.

The modern communication technologies, integrating computation, tele-communication and broadcasting are rapidly changing the whole array of process and requirements of the society. It is necessary to involve students in the quality process to achieve effectiveness in quality education; this will help the learners to be motivated in their vision, mission to transform their dreams into reality.

3. Enhancing inclusivity- Addressing heterogeneity in classroom
4. Innovative techniques for evaluation of learners

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION:
Interested participants who wish to submit their papers are requested to follow the guidelines below:  
Language: English and any other regional language
Type: MS Word Document
Title: Less than 4 words (preferably)
Font: Times New Roman, Size 12, Bold, Line Spacing 1.5
Name (Author) to be typed in CAPITAL letters
Abstract Text Length: Max 250 words
Full Paper Text Length: 2000 words
Tables, Symbols & Diagrams should not be included in the abstract.
Full Paper to be mailed in electronic format in MS Word 2003/2007 to iqac.podar@gmail.com

All submitted papers shall go through blind review process and notice of acceptance shall be informed through email by Wednesday, 17th August 2016.

The best paper from each sub-theme will be chosen for presentation at the seminar, however all accepted and selected papers will be published in the ISBN Seminar Proceedings (print form).

IMPORTANT DATES:
Submission of Full Paper with Abstract latest by: Saturday, 6th August 2016.
Acceptance Notification: Wednesday, 17th August 2016

About R.A. Podar
S. P. Mandali’s R. A. Podar College of Commerce & Economics is one of the oldest educational institutions in the state of Maharashtra spearheading education in the field of commerce and economics for the last 75 years. Located in Matunga, a central suburb of Mumbai, R. A. Podar College of Commerce & Economics is a single faculty Commerce college and is affiliated with the University of Mumbai.
