An initiative of University of Mumbai to promote a meaningful and sustained rapport between the Universities and the community.
R.A.Podar College of Commerce & Economics, is part of the Department of Adult & Continuing Education and Extension (DACEE). The college has opted for following three types of Extension Work Projects. On completion and submission of project, student gets 10 grace marks by the University.
- DLLE organises an annual festival Udaan –The Flight of Extension every year.
- This year R. A. Podar College inaugurated this festival by hosting the festival on 16th& 17thJanuary 2012 in the college auditorium.
- The festival had street play and poster competition.
- R. A. Podar College won the first prize in street play competition.

- Vocational Career Oriented Projects
- Career Project (CP)
Purpose:
- To find the student’s motivations and true interests, and talents for Education and work within himself/herself.
- To identify and find details about the student’s ideal careers before they choose it.
- To discover the student’s strengths, their styles for communications, learning and leadership.
- To choose a career and life plan that best suits the student’s needs.
- To enable a student to learn the interview technique, method of collecting information, how to prepare materials for the dissemination of information, etc.
- To help a student to know about the scope of the job of the career being explored.
- Information Technology Project (ITP)
Purpose:
- The main focus and importance of Information Technology Project is to make students computer literate.
- To provide students the learning opportunities to access to different options available under the ICT.
- To provide students access to ICT enabled services.
- To help student to learn how to use ICT for different applications and its potential for storing of Information /data process and retrieve them for use.
- To enhance student's employability skills.
- To undertake dissemination of extension education for the benefit of the society.
- Status of Women in Society (SWS)
Purpose
- This project introduces students to different National policies for the empowerment of women in the society.
- This project gives a prospect to the students to go out and get themselves acquainted with many people.
- The students improve on their communication and people management skills.
- It also make students aware about realities of the society which they can not otherwise understand sitting in their comfortable houses.
- The project helps the student to know the reality of the women in society, it given an opportunity to them to interact with them.
- The biggest advantage of this project is that it provides them a platform through which they can reach to the society.
- The students can help these women by guiding about their own rights, and the different schemes which government has introduced for them.
- The students can extend their hand to such women to overcome certain difficulties in their life and make their miserable life, tolerable.
